DIY Ikea Hack – Kids Bookshelves

Pinterest Photo (1)

One of my favorite parts of the nursery is the book corner I put together using Ikea shelves. Usually my hubby is the one that does any projects needing drills and stuff but I decided to do this myself and was pretty proud of how it turned out.

Materials:

  • Mosslanda Picture Ledges (at ikea here)
  • Drill
  • Screws
  • Level
  • Pencil
  • Measuring Tape

The rest is pretty self explanatory. Place your first shelf at the desired spot and ensure it is straight using the level. Then for each subsequent shelf measure the distance so that they are all even. Drill one side of the shelf first then level and drill the second screw.

Now if you’re ok with cleaning up books all day long feel free to make them reachable by your child. Otherwise, make them higher. Mine can only reach one shelf for now. Leila is at the age where she loves books so we get most of our books at Half Off Books and garage sales. Last weekend we scored some awesome – almost as new – books for 25 cents each!

Happy reading!
